Daniel's 70th Week in Review

What gives pseudo dispensational theologians the right to use weapons of math destruction? As a service to those who may have been disfigured in a counting mishap, we have changed the term Daniel’s 70th week to Daniel’s postponed, randomly inserted week, so as not to confuse basic math with plain English. For those who can’t adjust to the context, let’s begin again. The 70th week comes after the 69th week. That makes Daniel’s 70th week, history, but that’s another subject. A subject, it must be noted, that is often overlooked when accurately calculating times and seasons related to end time calculation methodology.

“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:” Gen 1:14 …

There is no indication throughout the written word that God would deviate from this plan or introduce extreme time displacement. The sun may have stood still for a day for Joshua and Hezekiah’s sun dial to go back a few degrees but as far as major tinkering with time in scripture… well there just isn’t any. It’s time to re-evaluate and unlearn what we were erroneously taught, learned to repeat by rout and to accept as truth. Daniel 70th week was fulfilled at the cross, in the early days of the Gospel and before the fall of Jerusalem. It takes time to wrap ones head around it but once it is realized then a whole lot of things will begin to look different after that.

“But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you." 1 Th 5:1

The mathematics of Daniel can be seen in many verses but here are several that stand out. I will take liberty to emphasize key words (in caps) to make a point.

“Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 and saying, THE TIME IS FULFILLED, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent, and believe the gospel.” Mk 1:14-15. What TIME was FULFILLED? The TIME Daniel pointed out as DETERMINED in Daniel nine.

“Seventy weeks are DETERMINED upon YOUR people and UPON YOUR HOLY CITY, to FINISH THE TRANSGRESSION, and to MAKE AN END of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to SEAL UP THE VISION AND PROPHECY, and to anoint the most Holy.” Dan 9:24

Christ FINISHED THE TRANSGRESSION system BY MAKING AND END TO SIN (sacrificial system) so that it no longer had domination over those who believed His Gospel. An added feature to this interpretation is that a day would come when explanations (outside the Gospel) of future events would be needless as the need for further speculation would be SEALED UP.

If that were not enough to get us to think through this, let us consider this portion of the explanation to the destruction (forever) of the one world system mentality. Daniel revealed to Nebuchadnezzar that it would arrive during the reign of the Caesar’s. Although it needs to be looked at without excessive tinkering, the conclusion is obvious; once the Gospel crushes the effectiveness of all future earthly kingdoms there will never be a return to world domination, though tyrants will rise and tyrants will fall.

Dan 2:44 “And in THE DAYS OF THESE KINGS shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and THE KINGDOM SHALL NOT BE LEFT TO OTHER PEOPLE, but it shall break in pieces and consume ALL THESE kingdoms, and IT SHALL STAND FOREVER.” Dan 2:44
